Gar Robinson wins Trans Am Series Muscle Car Challenge in Detroit

Texas-born driver Gar Robinson (Chevrolet Camaro) held off former IndyCar pilot Rafa Matos (Camaro) to take victory in the Trans Am Muscle Car Challenge TA2 class race in Detroit on Sunday.

In a late two-lap shoot-out, Robinson, who started on pole, jumped away from Matos, the 2008 Firestone Indy Lights champion, to win a Motor City crash-fest at Belle Isle.

Tony Buffomante (Ford Mustang) finished third, with Sheldon Creed (Dodge Challenger), winner of Saturday’s Speed Energy Super Trucks race, in fourth place.
