1967 Shelby GT500 427 Side Oiler

The 1967 Shelby GT500 was already a beast of a muscle car, but someone clearly thought, “Why not make it even more ferocious?” Enter the 427 “side-oiler” V8—a name that sounds like it should come with its own action movie. This engine upgrade turned the GT500 into the automotive equivalent of giving a lion a jetpack. Shelby had already set the bar high with previous models, but the 427 side-oiler GT500 is like the muscle-bound superhero who skips leg day and goes straight to saving the world.

The ‘65 and ‘66 Shelby Mustangs were very successful cars, but Shelby upped the stakes for ‘67 by introducing a big-block version of the GT cars with the GT500. However, this one takes it up another notch with a 427 “side-oiler” V8.
