Rarest Muscle Car is a Hemi Configuration 1966-1971
There are plenty of rare muscle cars including the hemi configuration in the history of muscle cars. After much calculating, we have honed down the rarest configuration of muscle cars from the era 1966-1971.
The winner is the Hemi Convertible from this era.Chrysler made 8,420,000 cars in this time period with only 179 total that were Hemi convertibles sold to the general public. That is 0.0000212589073634 %, Quite rare indeed!
The rarest top 2 are the 1967 Dodge Coronet R/T 426 Hemi Convertible, and the 1970 Dodge Coronet R/T 426 Hemi Convertible. a total of 2 each were made for the general public. This does not count cars made for the NHRA and Nascar.
These are the figures for factory made cars. I am guessing that there are more clones than the actual cars with matching numbers though.
A sale in 2014 at Mecum auctions of a numbers matching 71 Hemi Cuda Convertible netted 3.5 million.
