Teenager Drove Muscle Cars from his Grandfather’s Dealership

Growing up in a family where muscle cars are practically a family heirloom, Scott F. shares his thrilling experiences from his grandfather’s dealership. From test-driving Mach 1 Mustangs to his mom’s street-racing triumphs in a big block Bonneville, speed runs in their blood. Even now, Scott’s Mustang GT keeps the legacy alive, impressing even his fearless mom at 135 mph. As Scott quips, life would be mundane without Detroit’s V8 muscle to rev up the excitement!

Another MCF Member Story. Grandfather was a used car dealer for over 60 years and this lucky guy got to test drive some classics.

Hello Pat,

I guess you’d say that muscle cars run in my blood.  My grandfather was a used car dealer for over 60 years, so I got to test drive everything from Mach 1 Mustangs to Challengers and Super Bees.  As a teenager in the late 1950’s, my mom beat everyone in town (including the rich kid with a Corvette) quarter mile street racing in her big block Bonneville.  My earliest memories of my dad include his 1969 GTO and it’s awesome performance.
Dad last won a drag race in his Z06 Corvette at age 69.
I’m happy these days pushing the envelope as often as possible in my 2016 Mustang GT (color chosen because of Steve McQueen’s Bullitt), even my dad is impressed with the 435 hp and my mom didn’t bat an eye recently when I topped 135 mph with her in the passenger seat.

Life can be pretty boring without Detroit‘s V8 muscle to keep our blood pumping faster!

Regards,
Scott F.
