The 1967 Dodge Coronet 440 R/T Was King of the Displacement Wars

Back in the 1990s and 2000s, it seemed like there was some sort of competition amongst automakers to see who could run the most boost through their engines. The same phenomena occurred in the late 1960s, except instead of forced induction, manufacturers were battling over displacement. That’s how the Dodge Coronet 440 R/T came about.

  1. As a young man in the early 70’s, I was very fortunate in the fact that I owned one of these Coronet R/T’s. Beautiful car with lots of Horsepower and Torque. Shame I don’t have it still.

  2. Glued to the road. Reminds me when I tried to hang with a z28 in my Demon 340. It was a no can do.
