The 1964 Chevrolet Biscayne may have been marketed as the budget-friendly choice, but this “plain Jane” was no wallflower at the drag strip. Thanks to a few sneaky 409 engines installed by the factory, the Biscayne Fleetmaster could leave more expensive models eating its dust. It’s like showing up to a tuxedo party in a Hawaiian shirt and still stealing the show! The Biscayne is the lowest cost full sized Chevrolet, although every engine and power option available for the more upscale models could be ordered for the plain Jane Biscayne. There were a very few 409 engines that were factory installed in the lowly Biscayne Fleetmaster with the intention of them being used on drag strips.
