Chrysler 300 SRT8 for 2013 is a sleeper

The Chrysler 300 SRT8 is a sleeper-a four door sedan-without a hood scoop, no spoiler on the back, and no rumbling exhaust; this car doesn’t stand out in a crowd this version actually looks almost identical to its platform mate the six cylinder entry level model. What the 300 STR8 does is respond emphatically when you step on the gas-quick enough to put a lot of the imports and other so called performance machines in the rear view in short order.

Under the hood is the same engine as the Charger-a 16 valve 6.4 liter V8 hemi delivering 470 hp and developing 470lb-ft of torque and will do 0 to 60 mph in 4.3 seconds with the automatic five speed transmission. The car only takes 12.7 seconds to do the standing quarter mile achieving 112.0 mph in the process but will reach up to 175 mph without any problem. The car stops in short order as well for a full sized sedan and will come to a standstill from 60 mph in 105 feet. There is a launch control at your disposal in the SRT8; it is activated by tapping the traction control twice, right foot on the brake, and then quickly stomp the gas to the floor, the engine revs up to 1,825 rpm before the brake releases and you are off but some practice is required to get it down pat without laying tire rubber all over the road. The old fashioned way works as well- just tromp it you will be set back in your seat with the lamp standards looking like a picket fence in no time.

The upgraded 2013 suspension in the 300 SRT8 has three modes; track, sport, and the default mode, auto. On the default setting the ride is automatically adjusted to suite the demands you are making although the large car does not really give a good ride on rough roads but it’s great to motor around town although where it really excels is in highway driving although the cruise control might be a good choice for the lead footed folks. If you like to drive curvy roads a lot the sport setting would be the choice and even with the stock narrow tires it responds very well but with a wider set of tires the car will rise-up to any occasion.

The interior is well appointed; large comfortable seats covered with a vinyl/cloth combination and it offers plenty of leg room for any size. The seats are equipped with heating and vented both front and rear to make you as well as the passengers feel at home on a long drive. The SRT8 model comes with a 19 speaker Harmon-Kardon stereo system, 8.4 inch touch screen, and LED headlights. There are a list of options if you are buying a new 2013 including a safety package, two pane panoramic sun roof and uptown black chrome rims are also available for the tires to make your sleeper a bit more sporty looking. The car only gets 14/23 mpg city/highway so a showroom version might have a gas guzzler tax where you live.
