Dodge Charger Daytona vs. Stock Charger vs. Hellcat: Wind Tunnel
Ever wondered how effective the nose cones and spoilers on those iconic 1969 Dodge Charger Daytona “aero warriors” really were? We set up a comparison between a 1969 Dodge Charger Hemi; an authentic stock Charger Daytona; and, just for the heck of it, a 2015 Dodge Charger Hellcat. Here’s what we found out.

Interesting
Tests or not, 69 was best
Good to know, but the Daytona is still my fav.
Still,,,love the old body Styles…American Muscle….:-) :-)
What is this proving beating 50 year old designs ? Wow lol. I will always prefer these dinosaurs. Cars used to have style and personality.
Charger all the way.
Yeah, a Charger Hellcat is more aerodynamic at 100-175mph…but us mere mortals drive our cars, including muscle/classic cars at 35-60mph and rarely over 70. A brick or an arrow’s drag at 50mph means very little. All this proves is Chrysler figured out with slide rules and a wind tunnel a way to take a brick and turn it into a 200+mph arrow. And 50 years later we have a 4dr arrow that benefited from 50 year old technology. Instead of complaining, I am combining the best of both worlds. My 63 Studebaker Lark is quick, fuel efficient, handles well, yet has the individuality lacking in the good, yet herd mentality designs of today. A Charger of today has unbelievable performance yet looks generally like any Honda. But the downforce, drag coefficient, and lift numbers mean very little outside a drag strip or Talledaga.
