This 1955 Ford Thunderbird restomod is the automotive equivalent of wearing a tuxedo with flip-flops—elegantly rebellious. Sporting a fiberglass body and a Chevy 396 CID engine boosted by a 6-71 blower, this ‘T’ Bird makes sure you hear it coming before you see it. The Mustang II front end and a Ford 9″ differential ensure it handles like a dream, while the Mickey Thompson tires scream speed. It’s got the soul of a classic and the guts of a hot rod, with power windows for those who appreciate modern luxuries.
This restomod Ford Thunderbird is a unique vehicle and everywhere you go folks will hear the rumble of the big block long before it idles into view. This light-weight “T” Bird has an entirely fiberglass body shell powered by a Chevrolet 396 CID engine that is topped off with a 6-71 blower supported by a Mustang II front end. The torque is delivered to the fat Mickey Thompson rear tires through a Ford 9″ differential coupled to a TH-350 automatic transmission. The luxurious stock Thunderbird bench seat has been retained but renewed, the gauges recalibrated, power windows/trunk release added and the up to date front disk brakes will ensure stopping power when it is needed.
