If You Like Cats,The 1970 Mercury El Gato Concept Car Is For.
Blazing at you with a bold lime green paint job, El Gato was produced as a styling exercise for a futuristic-looking Cougar. It has shaved door handles, a chopped roof, and ultracool three-spoke 16″ wheels with new-at-the-time Goodyear Polyglass radials. This cat was cool and way before it’s time!
The front was a merger of styles from the Cougar and GTO and
the front and rear pans were rolled which makes a very advanced looking feature for the time period. This first ever fastback Cougar had LTD-style taillamps and a racing-style gas filler cap.
The El Gato is very elusive as they have never been spotted outside the Auto Show. Ford normally destroyed these concept cars unfortunately.
