You never know whats going to happen at a no-prep race! Especially when its your FIRST no-prep and there is 50 thousand dollars on the line! The crew with the “Texas Grim Reaper” didn’t seem too worried as they made their way towards the Finals. Their weapon of choice? – A 522 cubic inch, Big Block Corvette, pushed by a VIOLENT corkscrew supercharger, which shook the stands of the Drag strip every time it started up, causing people hundreds of feet away to cover their ears during every burnout and pass! We assume this won’t be the last time we see this car.

The Nova SS standard equipment is a 194 cu in inline six cylinder engine, but the full arsenal of Chevrolet large and small blocks is available for the Nova SS. The Base SS version would cost just $159.00 more than the entry level 400 version in 1966.
