You could buy off the showroom floor a 1969 Mustang 427 Super Cobra Jet equipped the same way, with around 430hp for less, and was quicker

They didn’t make 427 in 1969. Only 428 and 429 boss
GM may not have offered the 427 in ’69, but Berger was a mod shop and could very well have put a 427 in them.
