1964 Ford Galaxie 500 427 4-Speed R-Code

This is one of those cars that sets your imagination on fire. A long, Raven black ‘64 Ford Galaxie 500 that glistens like a prize fighter in the ring, with a heart just as big. Ford was good at building big and comfy family cars, but they also did a heck of a job stripping them down into racing versions, like our R-code version with it’s 425 HP 427 powerplant.

  1. Perhaps my all time favorite…great looks, great mechanicals.

  2. Would give any thing to have one. I had a 64 Ford rag top, black on black with a 390/330 hp. Backed up with a 4 speed trans.

  3. My first car was a 64 Galaxie 500 4 door. It had a bullit proof 289. I would love to have a R-code. This was the best body style of all the Galaxies.

  4. Almost bought one in 1968 it was an R code 427, 2 X 4’s 4 speed 411 rear, price was $1800 my wife just had twins. You know the answer!

    1. Aesthetically, I thought the body lines of the ’63 were exceptional.

    2. Yes, exactly why I didnt buy a Ford. I could have looked for a 63 but didn’t. The line in 64 belonged to Chrysler.

    1. Yep, his a 63-1/2 with nicer wheels , but pretty much the same ??

    1. At that viewing angle the right rear wheel is obscured by the front left wheel. During my watching of the linked video all four wheels stayed on the pavement.

  5. Special memory in white: Sure got hot under that hood during eliminations.
