The 1975 Pontiac LeMans is like the automotive equivalent of bell-bottoms—iconic and a little bit groovy. Thanks to the Pontiac Maximum Mileage System, it’s also a tree-hugger with a heart, sporting a catalytic converter for cleaner emissions. Under the hood, you can opt for a humble 250 cu in inline six or go full disco with a 350 V8. Feeling wild? The 1975 Le Mans has the Pontiac Maximum Mileage System which adds a catalytic converter for cleaner emissions and better fuel economy-with improved drivability-according to the sales brochures of the day. The base engine offered is a 250 cu in (4.1 L) inline six, but a 350 (5.7 L) V8 engine is also offered and it could be mounted with a 2-barrel or a 4-barrel carburetor. The ultimate power in ’73 is the 400 cu in (6.6 L) engine which could have either a two or a four barrel carb.
