Best of the Disco Era,‘70s Cars and Style at HOT ROD Power Tour 2017

The 1970s embodied so many things. The first half was the end of an era, a last hurrah for muscle car–generation horsepower. With the noose of stricter smog regulations rapidly tightening around the necks of automakers, enthusiasts snatched up the last-crop of less restricted muscle cars while they could. The decade saw cars grow in size and tonnage, resurrecting a bigness and curb-dominating stature not seen since the late ‘50s and early ‘60s. On the gearhead side, blowers, tunnel-rams, white-lettered tires, wild paint, and gold valve covers were the rising stars. Dawn was about to break on the street machine era. We perused the grounds at HOT ROD Power Tour 2017 and shot our favorite rides from both the ‘70 model year and those dripping in retro, ‘70s style.
