What that transbrake actually does to a launch is the kind of detail that separates a fast car from a genuinely terrifying one.

What a Transbrake Actually Does

A transbrake works by locking multiple clutches inside the transmission at once — in the Demon”s 8-speed automatic, that means holding gears simultaneously so the car physically cannot move no matter how hard the engine is revved. With the transbrake engaged, the driver”s foot comes off the brake pedal entirely; instead, throttle is modulated between roughly 950 and 2,350 rpm while a shift paddle keeps the transmission locked, building torque against a transmission that simply will not let the car creep forward until the paddle is released.
