Jay Leno Crashes In 2500 hp Hemi Under Glass Car
Hurst Hemi Under Glass is a series of exhibition drag racing cars that was campaigned by Hurst Performance from 1965 to 1975.
The wheel standing cars were based on the Plymouth Barracuda for the current year and the car was developed by Hurst Corporation with help from well-known wheel stander Wild Bill Schrewsberry.
The car was driven by Bob Riggle of Mansfield Oh.
Riggle returned to exhibition racing in 1992 with a replica of the 1968 car.
In the video below you see Jay Leno fulfilling one of his bucket list wishes that almost involve him kicking the bucket. Really a must watch video .

DumbAss!
Awesome car to watch in it’s day.
Can’t handle the power, don’t get in it
It was driven by the guy who has ALWAYS driven it. Jay was a passenger !
Robert Amatangelo
Could happen to anybody. Don’t fool yourself – these things go sideways more often than you think.
I wouldn’t drive a car like that if I was u it’s the driver idiot I been racing 35 years 2100hp never happened to me 80 years old casket time
Especially with all the weight in the back, car was not made to turn
Muscle Car Fan Grumpy Jenkins figured that out. His cars had steerable wheelie bars.
I remember seeing this in person years ago ..
Sox & Martin has faster ET
Totally different car with a rear mounted engine, built for wheel standing. Not drag racing !
Oh well, and?
This car was a piece of history, and the “dumbass” as you call him has driven it for many years. The problem was there wasn’t enough room left when the car came down again onto four wheels, and he had to turn sharply causing the car to barrel roll.
