Lamborghini Reventon 2008

The Lamborghini two-door coupe, the Reventon (pronounced Rebenton), was the most expensive car the company produced until the newest Veneno model was introduced in 2013 for $2 million (USD). The name means “small explosion” or “about to burst,” and as is Lamborghini tradition, it’s named after a bull; this time the name is a bull that killed a matador in 1943.
Lamborghini introduced the mid-engine, all-wheel-drive sports car to the public in 2007 at the Frankfurt Motor Show. Though the body style was completely new and styled along the same lines as the “fastest jet,” the engine and all of the mechanical components are from the Lamborghini flagship, the Murcielago LP 640 introduced in 2001. The company says that there  were only 20 Reventon coupes for sale to the public plus one more for the company’s museum, but there are rumors it built up to 100. Of the original 20 cars, 10 went to the U.S., one to Canada, seven to Europe, and two to Asia. Apparently the first Reventon went to Los Vegas, and the last one made went to a customer in the U.K. in 2008. Each of the cars is stamped with its production number between the front two seats.

The top speed of this car was recorded at 221 mph (355.7 km/h) in Dubai, UAE. The instrument cluster is made up of three TFT liquid crystal displays with two different display modes. The case housing for the instruments is milled from a solid aluminum block. One of the instruments is a g-force meter for measuring the forces acting on the car and their direction. The seats are leather and black and brown.
The exterior body panels of the Revention are carbon fiber, which leaves the car a middle gray color and without the shine you might expect it to have. Audi is the parent company of Lamborghini,  so the Reventon incorporated Audi’s idea of LED day time running lights into the bi-Xenon headlamps on either side of the main beam. There’s a special heat-resistant LED used for the turn and hazard lights in the lower rear of the car to withstand the heat. The LED lights are on whenever the car is in motion.

The Reventon is 4.7 meters (190 inches) long, 2.05 meters (81 inches) wide, and 1.135 meters (44.7 inches) tall with a curb weight of 1,665 kg (3,671 pounds).  This mid-engine, four-wheel drive coupe was on a 2.665-meter (104.9-inch) wheelbase and has a 6.5-liter V12 under the hood and offered a choice of the e-gear six-speed automatic or a six-speed standard transmission with a single clutch that can shift gears in 50 milliseconds. The car does 0-97 km/h (60 mph) in 2.9 seconds, the quarter-mile in 10.6 seconds, reaching a speed of 220 km/h (137 mph). The factory estimated top speed of the Reventon was 370 km/h (230 mph). Swedish manufacturer Haldex developed the fourth generation all-wheel-drive technology.
At the Frankfurt Motor Show in 2009, a new Reventon roadster model was unveiled although it’s still speculation as to whether the possible 15 units will go into production. The roadster will have a slightly lower top speed of 205 mph (355.7 km/h) than the coupe and will do 0-99.78 km/h (62 mph) in 3.3 seconds.
