Pontiac Firebird 1967 images

Step back into the late 60s when the Pontiac Firebird 1967 was the epitome of cool—think James Dean with a V8 engine. Built on the GM F-body platform, this pony car was all about style and power. The ’67 model flaunts slit tail lights reminiscent of its cousin, the GTO, and offers a choice between a convertible or hard-top. Whether you opt for the base model’s OHC inline 6 or go full throttle with the 400 CID V8, one thing’s for sure, this car screams “I’m faster than your dad’s station wagon!”

The first generation Firebird is on the GM F-body compact platform and aimed at competing in the pony car market. The ’67 Firebird sports the same slit tail lights as the GTO and available as a convertible or a hard top. The base Firebird models come equipped with the OHC inline 6 engine mounted with a one barrel carburator. The sprint is the first step up in power and the same engine puts out 215 hp (160 kW) with the four barrel. The most popular choices in ’67 is the 326 CID (5.3 L) V8 engine equipped with a two barrel or the four barrel developing 250 hp (190 kW) or 285 hp (213 kW) respectively. The power option this year is a 400 CID (6.6 L) engine, the same as the GTO, and it puts out 325 hp (242 kW).
