Challenger SRT Hellcat – Fastest Commercial Muscle Car of 2017
The market is flooded with gas-guzzling, horsepower-packed speed demons, which makes finding an outlier in their numbers a challenge. The one that does rise from the rest of the pack, however, is aptly named- Dodge‘s Challenger Hellcat.
Behind the traditional muscle-car facade is a 707-horsepower, 6.2 liter V8 high-performance engine, which powers the Hellcat as it smashes through our expectations. With a top speed of 199 mph (~320 kph) and 650 lb-ft of torque, the Hellcat can whisk from 0 to 60 in a mere 3.5 seconds.
The downside to this impressive speed, however, is the painful 1.5 gallons of fuel it exhausts every minute. Along with being the most powerful muscle car ever, this machine has a roar so distinct you can download the ringtone- I’m not kidding. The car is available in 6-speed manual and 8-speed automatic.
