His high-lift camshaft, sold as an over-the-counter performance part before it became a factory option, transformed how the small-block breathed at high rpm. His advocacy pushed Chevrolet to send Corvettes to Sebring in 1956, where a class finish gave the marketing department something no advertisement could manufacture. One Horsepower Per Cubic Inch, and What It Cost
