NASCAR’s wing car era lasted only two seasons before new rules made the aero-bodied Dodge Daytona and Plymouth Superbird uncompetitive almost overnight. Only a few hundred to a couple thousand of each were ever built, and most scattered into private hands with little trace of where they ended up. Decades later, tracking one down — like the search that led to the discovery above — has become its own kind of detective story for Mopar collectors.
