Program Lets Teens Drag Race with the Police!

Street racing is not only incredibly popular, but it is incredibly dangerous and illegal as well. One program was designed to grab the attention of teens looking to have a little fun with their cars, and do so in a way that promotes a little civil obedience. Top the Cops™ is its name, and it all goes down at the Sonoma Raceway in Sonoma, California.

The program continues to be a success in lowering the number of street races reported. However, it does have its limits, as it is only open to high school aged drivers. Although the majority of street racers are this old or in their 20’s, there are a large number of sports car owners that do not take the time to sign up at the strip. Even still, the idea is to spread safety information and give teens the knowledge and experience needed to make good decisions the rest of the time. To make things even sweeter, since the program’s beginning, at least 5 of the Top the Cops™ competitors have gone on to graduate from the police academy of their choosing.
